Dr. Scott Simmerman, author of the Square Wheels toolkits presented a 90 minute interactive program focused on international marketing for small consulting businesses. The title of the program was, "Teaching the Caterpillar to Fly."

Part One included a demonstration of his Square Wheels metaphor and its use in creativity, process improvement and leadership development. Each attendee got a copy of this illustration along with a Tip Sheet on its use and information about the available toolkits and presentations. Scott will also deliver his "Caterpillar and Butterfly" training joke.

Part Two involved a discussion of his approach to global marketing. Based on his series of presentations at ASTD entitled, "Working Home, Selling Globally," Dr. Simmerman explained how he has been building a collaborating network of global consultants and trainers and using the Internet to build sales and generate exposure. The internet and web-related tools support a shift in business strategy for the independent consultant or trainer.
